She turns out to be an Apple Corps Officer for Bliss Ocean. She is incredibly powerful and efficient at her job but completely incompetent failure when it comes to her romantic endeavors. For most of her life she's been unaware that her epithet is what's been pushing others away.

Horizontal Pilot Command[]

Charles Foxtrot goes as Bliss Ocean's undercover Apple Corps Officer, along with Zora Salazar her best friend, Yoomtah, and Naven. He, in particular, has convinced Charles that he is a girl to make their interactions easier.

During a run-in with the news crew, the team probes her with questions, often personal ones. Despite it being obvious that she has an epithet, Charles seems completely oblivious to it. Some of the team's questions come off as incredibly insulting. Eventually, Noah Finway asks if her epithet is "Repulsive" and Charles cries in a corner hiding inside a plant.

While undercover Charles fights with her Pilot "Spin The Bottle", a genie girl coming out of a glass bottle that she can spin just like the game she's named after. She fights in a team match with Deathrow Crackerjack and his Pilot "Sarcopha-Gus". However, he dies at the start of the fight and Guile Manning has to step in as her partner. He frequently sabotages her, while she flirts with him, and the news crew defeats Charles fairly easily.

When the identity of Bliss Ocean's leader is revealed, Naven calls on Charles to destroy all physical evidence of their identity while he charges a mass mind wipe of everyone in the convention center. During the encounter the team uses an item they found earlier to make two people fall in love with Charles and Guile, making them a weird combination between lovers and friends that is never fully elaborated on. Despite her competence in combat and her perfect track record for missions, the news crew upload footage to Gonkle and Charles has to accept her first failed mission. This coupled with the team's insults has made this the worst day of her life.

Executive Grin Contest[]

Charles meets Ramsey Murdoch in prison waiting for their game, who shows an immediate interest in her. She's been learning to control her epithet and its effect is slightly lessened. She is coached by a disguised Guile who may or may not be secretly working to sabotage Ramsey's advancements. Later, Charles becomes a contestant for one of the games. Before it starts Guile ends up shooting Ramsey in the leg but Charles is able to use various medical techniques she knows, including using a branding iron, to heal him. She ends up barely losing to the team, but her growing relationship with Ramsey stays.

Exquisite Drunken Candymaker[]

Charles acts as the guard for the ground floor. She was going to shoot anyone who would come into her station but relents when Ramsey Murdoch enters with the others. She decides that if Ramsey can take her on a good first date that she'll let them pass. Sierra Saxton unknowingly and Guile Manning knowingly try to sabotage the date, but their plans are ultimately for nothing and the date goes by without a single affinity down. At one point Ramsey's food is spiked with laxatives and has to leave. During this time Rick Shades lets Charles talk to Noah Finway who gives off an incredible apology for how mean she was to her at Deathcon. Charles gives Ramsey the pass to the next floor before swooning so hard she passes out.

Annihilate Adjustable Flaw[]

Charles was in the epilogue/credits sequence. She can be seen in the background of Ramsey's epilogue cut scene. She and him wrote books together, and after they reunited, she hired Ramsey's sister Reseda as a book restorer. Her quote is: "Charles' relationship with Ramsey didn't stay romantic for long, but they did become close friends and respected coworkers. Together, they started publishing stories together under the name goldman and fox. Charles channeled her epithet into writing beautiful stories with heartbreaking endings that quickly grew in popularity with the YA audience. Ramsey was her illustrator."
